We stayed four nights.
The location is good.
Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Staff was very helpful, arranged air tickets and managed taxi to the airport for us.
Breakfast is not brilliant but OK.

The best thing about the Silver Star is its proximity to the best eating in Mandalay- the chapatis stand on the corner, Nepali Food, and of course, Nylon Ice Cream Bar. I didn't venture out in this neighborhood after dark, though- there are lots of creepy guys setting up porn stalls in the street and that doesn't make a solo female traveler feel very welcome.The rooms were basic, but if you're on a higher floor it's nice to open up one of the large sliding windows and watch the world go by.
